Final Luncheon

When & Where: 12:30pm on Monday, April 28, in S117.

Please join us for our last luncheon of the year. We’ll be holding an open roundtable to brainstorm for next fall, as well as bid farewell to those moving on.

The lunch will be fully catered, so please be sure to stop on by for what will be a very special event.

Dan Merchant Screening: Lord, Save Us

When & Where: 6:00pm on Wednesday, April 23rd, in the RSV room.

Please join us for a sneak preview of Lord, Save Us From Your Followers, a powerful new film about religion in America.

The director of the film, Dan Merchant, will be joining us for the screening, and has graciously agreed to hold a Q-and-A afterward.

Mickey Edwards Seminar: Conservatism

When & Where: 12:30pm on Tuesday, April 22nd, in the JED room.

Founder of the Heritage Foundation and a former Republican Congressman, Mickey Edwards is a towering figure in American conservatism. Yet in his new book, Reclaiming Conservatism: How a Great American Political Movement Got Lost, Edwards takes that movement to task.

Please come join us for an engaging conversation with Mr. Edwards about his new book, as well as American conservatism more generally.

The discussion will be catered.

Philip Gorski Luncheon: Race & Politics

When & Where: 12:30pm on Monday, April 21st, in S117.

Over at the Immanent Frame, Philip Gorski recently published an insightful essay on “Class, Nation, and Covenant.”

Drawing heavily from sociological theory, Professor Gorski’s essay offers some of the best commentary to date on the Obama-Wright controversy.

Now Professor Gorski has agreed to venture up the hill to discuss the essay with us further. Please stop by for some stimulating conversation on one of the more pressing issues of the day.

Willis Jenkins Seminar: Environmentalism

When and where: 12:30pm on Monday, April 14th, in S117.

Please join us for a special luncheon with YDS’ very own Willis Jenkins.

In addition to his popular classes on environmentalism and global development, Professor Jenkins is also the recent author of Ecologies of Grace: Environmental Ethics and Christian Theology.

Professor Jenkins will be discussing his new book, and then leading a conversation on the politics of environmentalism.

A light lunch will be served.
